A highly experienced commercial property lawyer, Jane Havergal, has joined Setfords Solicitors as a consultant.
Jane has been practising law in the City of London for 30 years, eight of which were spent at one of the biggest law firms in the world, Clifford Chance.
Jane brings a wealth of experience and specialises in commercial leases, property finance and property investment and has worked on projects relating to the coal, rail and nuclear industries, including Hinkley Point. She typically advises mid-size corporate clients from the UK and abroad on a wide range of commercial property matters.
Jane was a partner at Pritchard Englefield and then at Thomas Eggar for 17 years. At Pritchard Englefield she headed up the firm’s property department.
Fluent in German, Jane has long experience dealing with international clients, and is known for her specialist expertise in advising clients with headquarters outside the UK, mainly but not exclusively from German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), when establishing a presence in England.
Jane has published widely in German, also lecturing on property security at the VdP Akademie in Berlin, an organisation which offers training to German bankers on how to check security for loans in EU and overseas jurisdictions.
At Setfords Jane plans to apply her expertise in commercial leases, property finance and property investment for the benefit of her clients, and her plans for the future include helping clients in a post-Brexit world, working closely to this end with other consultants in the Setfords commercial property team with complementary skillsets.
Jane said: “I am honoured and delighted to be part of the live-wire and up-to-the minute Setfords team. They are an exciting bunch to be with. Setfords’ friendly and expert management and atmosphere is tonic, and just what I was looking for to apply and build on my career experience.”
CEO Guy Setford said: “We’re delighted Jane is joining Setfords. With wide experience at partner-level and her work both here and abroad, we know Jane is going to be a terrific asset.”
Fellow CEO Chris Setford added: “Jane has our full support and we’re looking forward to seeing her client-base grow.”
