Setfords Solicitors wins prestigious Law Society award for marketing and communications

Setfords Solicitors has been named best in its field for marketing and communications in the Law Society Excellence Awards 2017.

Setfords beat a shortlist of eight other firms for the prestigious award, which recognises the most outstanding legal practitioners.

It follows the work the firm carried out, alongside its consultancy, Calder PR, to promote its working model, which enables lawyers to operate remotely and enjoy greater rewards. Consultants work on a fee share basis, don’t have billing targets, and through the use of technology can operate anywhere in the world.

Following the campaign that saw the use of blogs, filmed adverts and other content, and included raising the profile of a number of lawyers within the firm, Setfords saw a 38% increase in the number of consultants joining the company.

In awarding Setfords, the judges commented: “They ran a consultant recruitment campaign that had very clear goals and objectives. The campaign aimed to change the perception of how solicitors work and at the same time attract new consultants.

“The campaign was well executed and one judge commented that although he was not a solicitor, the Setfords’ video made him want to join the firm. The additional return was that the campaign served as a rallying call to support staff and boosted internal morale.”

President of the Law Society, Joe Egan concluded, “I want to congratulate all those who work at Setfords Solicitors for their extraordinary efforts and commitment to excellence.”

Award-winning support helping to deliver a better way of working for lawyers

The BBC’s Mishal Husain presented the award to the Setfords team, David Rogers, Managing Director, Keir MacKenzie, Head of PR and Communications, and Kieran Smith, Head of Digital Marketing alongside Joe Egan, President of the Law Society

Co-CEO Chris Setford said: “Marketing and communications is a major part of our offer to consultant solicitors and we are delighted the team has been recognised for its exceptional talents.

“We believe passionately in the message we have been promoting, that there is a better way of working for lawyers. It is a way of working that enables them to achieve a better work-life balance, enjoy greater financial rewards and deliver a better service to their clients.”

Co-CEO Guy Setford added: “The increasing number of lawyers joining Setfords is a sign that this message hits home with so many in the legal industry.

“Once consultant lawyers become a part of Setfords we believe they get access to the best support, a claim we feel confident making, particularly after receiving this marketing and communications award from the Law Society.”

Setfords took £3.75 million in investment in December 2016 and recently expanded its London offices on Chancery Lane.
